The Spark project recognises the unique challenges facing established and start-up social enterprises. As such, we have developed information and resources that focus on the particular needs for each of these categories, which we define as:
Social enterprises are businesses, which:
Have a social and/or environmental mission
Generate, or are working towards generating, at least a quarter of their income through selling goods and services
Have organisational autonomy and reinvest all or some of their profits to further their mission
Established social enterprises:
Those organisations that are more than 3 years old.
Start-up social enterprises:
Those organisations less than 3 years old.
