Social Enterprise Innovation Accelerator Programme

Overview and Benefits

The Spark Accelerator programme (SEIAP) has been designed to help established social enterprises achieve high impact and sustainable innovation. The Accelerator is a structured support and development programme for social enterprises in the Interreg 2 Seas Programme area. This area incorporates regions in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and the UK. Indeed, the Accelerator is a direct response to the Spark Research and associated Spark Innovation Model. It is a practical way to provide support for social enterprises to develop repeatable innovation capabilities. The Accelerator is also seen as a useful addition to local innovation ecosystems in and across geographical regions.

The design of the programme has been reviewed by 11 peers across the three regions, including social enterprises, support organisations, specialist in innovation, local authorities and universities.

The benefits we are expecting social enterprises to achieve through the programme are as follows:

  • Increased business capacity including to deliver innovation, starting during the project

  • Improved skills to deliver innovation

  • Innovative social enterprises engaging in international activities

Social enterprises enrolled in the programme will benefit from the following activities:

  • One to one sessions – to create a bespoken Innovation Growth Plans for each social enterprise in the programme and to support and monitor progress

  • Action learning sets – to provide the opportunity for peer discussion and support. One session takes place as part of the International safari with follow up sessions taking place locally

  • 10 x ½ day training sessions – to support with issues identified in the one to one sessions and action learning sets. Sessions are open to all. If you are interested, please let us know. Events, with booking facility, will be uploaded into the calendar soon

  • Open Innovation Group – to help social enterprises in the programme engage in using the Innovation Model and identify the desired path for development from the Innovation Model

  • International safaris in UK, Belgium and Netherlands – an opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practice with social enterprises from the three regions

  • E-Learning Hub – a platform with information on the Innovation Model and the Accelerator Programme, including support tools. It also includes a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas between the social enterprise participating in the accelerator
